    Chan began his career with U.A.L. in May of 1952. He was hired as a co-pilot and flew as co-pilot on the DC-6, DC-7 and the DC-8. In November of 1968, while on his honeymoon, he received a telegram that he had been awarded a captain's vacancy in NY on the DC-6. He flew as Captain on the DC-6, Viscount, B-727 successively until getting a DC -8 bid in 1969. Chan flew the DC-8 until he got a bid on the DC-10 in 1980. His last four years with the company he loved were on the DC-10.
