Capt. Deardorff, “Chuck”, was the pilot of a B-26 Martin “Marauder”, flying out of England and France during WW II. He was a member of the 9th Air Force, 322nd Bomb Group, 452nd Bomb Squadron. He flew 65 missions, and was shot down on his 65th, taken prisoner until the end of the war with Germany. Among his many decorations were the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. His military career spanned 27 years, active and reserve.
