In 1967, under a special program, Captain Shuckhart was hired with zero flight time. His firs line assignment was as an ORD DC-6 Second Officer. He flew DC-8 second officer out of LAX in 1978.
He began his Captain career in 1988, flying the B-737-300, B-757, B-767. And finished his career with United as Captain of B-747-400. In 1996 he was LAX FO "Captain of the year" and finished his 34 1/2 year career landing at LAX on Sept. 6, 2001.
