    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

My father, Roy E. Kittle, owned a J-3 Cub in the late 1940s. He and I enjoyed many overnight cross countrys when I was small. This set the seed. After getting a BA in Physics I decided to go for an airline career after United Airlines advertised its need for pilots. I learned to fly in Riverside, Calif., instructed there for a year, then flew part 135 for Tri-City Air Taxi in San Bernardino, CA. Pinky and Joe Briar (WWII) started this business before the CAA was created. United hired me in 1969 when they needed second officers for the B737. I had an extremely successful and happy 32 year career there.
