    Captain Palms(U.S.Army Air Forces) served in WW II as a C-47 transport pilot in the South Pacific War Theater. He was five times decorated while on active duty with a troop carrier squadron with the Fifth Air Force stationed in New Guinea. His multiple citations include the Distinguished Flying Cross,the Airmen's Medal, and an Oak Leaf Cluster for extraordinary achievment,outstanding skill,courage, and devotion to duty in participating in over 50 missions involving low altitude flights over mountainous terrain,under adverse weather conditions,with the constant threat of enemy fighter attacks and landing in fields very near enemy bases. These operations consisted of dropping supplies and transporting troops to advanced positions in the course of General MacArthur's offensive against the Japanese in New Guinea and northward and his operations figured importantly in United States successes in that war theater. In civilian life,Captain Palms was a Captain with Mohawk and Allegheny Airlines. He was born April 29,1918 in Greenville,Pa. and died on May 13,1984.
