My aviation career began with US Air Force pilot training in 1966. Highlights of my USAF career include KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling instructor pilot and standard's captain at the Strategic Air Command's training school, Castle Air Force Base (AFB), Calif. I was C-7A Caribou instructor pilot at Phu Cat Air Base, Vietnam where I was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and seven Air Medals, and later was a Boeing 720/707 instructor pilot in the 89th Military Airlift Wing Special Air Missions at Andrews AFB, Md. where I transported cabinet, Congressional, and other foreign and domestic dignitaries to well over 100 different countries.

I retired from the military and flew for Presidential Airways from 1986-1989 as captain on the BAE 146 and first officer on the B-737-700. In 1989 I was hired by United Airlines where I flew the B-737-200, B-757, B-767, and B-777 as first officer. I flew the B737-300/500 and the A-320/319 as captain.

My retirement from United Airlines in 2002 ended my active flying career but not my continuing passion for flying.
