    Captain Daniel H. Murphy flew for United Airlines from April 1965 through December 1998 domiciled in Chicago, Detroit and Washington, DC. During his 34 year airline career he flew the DC-6, DC-7, Viscount, Caravelle, Boeing 727, 737, 757, and 767 and flew as captain and line check airman on the Boeing 777 from its introduction into service by United Airlines in 1995 until his retirement. Before his employment with United Airlines, he served in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic and as a flight standards instructor in both flight simulators and ground schools. In addition to his Airline Transport Pilot license ratings, he also held a Lear jet rating, advanced and instrument ground instructor licenses, a flight instructor license and a flight engineer license with ratings for both reciprocating engine and turbojet powered aircraft.
