    Born in India May29, 1943, graduate of National Defense Academy India, 1963. During his career with the Indian Air Force, Squadron Leader D. M. Subaiya flew MIG -21, Mystere IVA, Vampires, HT-2, Harvard, Alouette III, Lama, Mi-4, Mi-8, Avro HS-748, and DC-3. He completed the Advanced Gunnery Course with the USAF at Nellis AFB and flew F86F and T-33.
    Instructor: Instructed on Vampire Jet Trainer, HT-2 basic trainer and Alouette III.
    Combat: Flew 25 combat missions on MIG-21 in the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
    Examiner with the IAF's Aircrew Examining Board before early retirement in 1977.
    As a Commercial Pilot with United Airlines he flew B-727, B-737, B-747-400, DC-10 and B-777, he was based in DCA, DEN, LAX, SFO, ANC and ORD. Retired as Captain on Boeing -777, after flying numerous Trans-Atlantic flights to Paris, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Trans Pacific flights to Narita, Auckland, Beijing, and Bangkok. Last flight ORD-PEK-NRT-PEK-ORD.
    Married since 1968 to Lekha Subaiya, MD, one daughter Tara Subaiya.
