    LT Denver V. Truelove, US Army Air Corps, was the bombardier of the fifth crew of the 80 volunteers who manned the 16 B-25 bombers in the secret mission -- first special aviation project -- the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, April 18, 1942.

    He lost his life for his country on April 5, 1943, five days before his 24th birthday. He was on a bombing mission in the European Theatre, North African Area, when flak hit the plane which crash landed in the sea off the coast of Sicily in turbulent waters.

    He received the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Chinese Military Medal, and the Purple Heat.
