Air and Space Friend

Honored by:

B. 1918*. Flew in CPT in late 30's. Civ. Instructor for USAAF. Many "problem" cadets in his charge, went on to become good pilots, all because of Earl's "top" skills as instructor; also, unlimited patience! Any other instructor would have eliminated these same cadets and let it go at that. Early 40's & Earl went to TWA & flew there, until 1950 (DC 4, B 307 & Connie). Then, till 1967, he flew non-sked & Corporate (D-18, DC 4, DC 6, Connie, etc). Then, till death in 1974* he flew Corporate for an outfit near Jackson, Ml. Today's airways are safer, because of the way he imparted/shared his skills with every flight officer assigned to him. Held nothing back; tried to make each of us as good as he was & none ever made it. I feel that none ever will! It is duty of all Captains to mold flight officers into the likeness of themselves; lot of them are fearful of losing their "pedestal" spot. None as serious on said subject, as Earl.
