Enlisted in Army Air Corps, October 14, 1940. Received commission and pilot rating June 30, 1943. Flew B-25 Bombers in New Guinea and Biak January – November 1944. Then flight instructed in B-25 aircraft until release from active duty October 2, 1945.
Hired as co-pilot by United Airlines April 12, 1946. Furloughed by United November 30, 1948. Recalled to U.S. Air Force active duty March 28, 1949. Flew the Berlin Airlift until it terminated. Then flew as Staff Pilot and Instructor, Air Training Command until March 28, 1953. Returned to United Airlines flying most company aircraft until retiring from the Boeing 747 in November 1980.
