Mr. Dawkins retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 20 years of active duty. He saw combat in Korea and Vietnam. He served proudly and honorably. He was generous in praise for combat pilots.

Mr. Dawkins was Squadron Commander of Thunderbird Squadron, New Mexico Civil Air Patrol. As a volunteer, he served in this capacity and as observer for downed aircraft from 1977 to 1982.
