Edwin Patton was in the U. S. Army during WWI. He took flight training in the Aviation Section of the Signal Corps. But he had to peel our because of inadequate eyesight. Her reverted to Coastal Artillery and stayed in the reserves after WWI. He returned to duty during WWII as a Captain in Coastal Artillery.
