    Edward Patrick McLaughlin served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from January 1942 to June 1945. He flew 50 missions in a B-17 out of Africa with the 348th Squadron, 99th Bomb Group in 1943. He also re-enlisted and flew in the Berlin Airlift in 1949. He joined United Air Lines in 1945 and flew for 33 years retiring as Captain of a 747 in June of 1978. His rank at retirement from the U.S. Air Force Reserves was a Lt. Colonel.
