    Eric Lewis (A South African) inspiration to fly was flamed by the “Spirit of St. Louis” and Charles Lindbergh’s success. At age 21 Eric gained a private pilot license and progressed steadily to an airline transport rating over eight years. During this time he became an instructor and ran a flight school. In 1975 at age 28 he joined South African Airways. Over a career of 28 years he flew as First Officer and later as Training Captain. Flew the 747, HS748, 727, A-300, 737, 767, and finally 747-400. He then flew for NCA (Nippon Cargo) for five years. He was a SA CAA Designated Examiner.
