    Commissioned an Ensign and designated a Naval Aviator June 1928 after completing flight training at Great Lakes , Ill. And Pensacola, FL. Served as an active reservist (1928-38).
    In May of 1931 flew as co-pilot with Walter Lees as pilot of the Packard/Bellanca diesel powered air plane that set w worlds record non- refueling flight of 84 hours 32 min. Record stood until Dick Raton’s 1989? Flight.
    Active duty 1939 to 1958, flight status to 1957. Retired 1958. Promoted Captain 1951.
