Captain Gay has been an aviation enthusiast throughout his life. His love of flying and aviation has been expressed in both his chosen profession and hobbies. As a naval aviator, he served as a P-3 NAVCOM operating in the Pacific region from 1980 to 1998. His hobby of building and flying radio-controlled models has kept Capt. Gay in touch with the wonders of flight ever since he was a boy. Supporting the development of this new National Air and Space Museum honors Capt. Gay’s passion for aviation and his hopes that the treasures displayed here will spark the imagination of generations to come.
