Capt. Chandler says that as far back as his memory goes, he wanted to fly. He learned to fly at an early age and was sent to Texas during World War II as a flight instructor. After the war, he stayed in Texas and became a pilot for Braniff Airways in 1950. He flew for Braniff for 32 years until its closing in 1982, just 9 months prior to his mandatory retirement (at age 60). He is currently serving his second term as President of the OX5 Aviation Pioneers’ Texas Wing.
