George was born on September 17th 1934 in Placerville California and lived his early years in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. He, as many others at that time, had a strong attraction for flight, building u-control model airplanes during high school. Afterward he attended Sacramento Jr. Collage to become an aircraft mechanic. In June 1955 started working for Pan American World Airlines at San Francisco International Airport as a mechanic. January 1957 found him joining the United States Air Force in the Aviation Cadet program Class 58-N flying the T-34, T-28 and the TB-25. He was amazed to be flying the B-25 only 15 years after the Doolittle raid on Japan. In June 1958 he was assigned to fly the KC-97, the airborne refueler, at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, Montana. Then on to fly the KC-135, the jet refueler, at Larson AFB, Moses Lake, Washington and at Travis AFB, Fairfield, California. Leaving the Air Force in July 1965 he joined United Airlines as a second officer on the Boeing 727 for three years. The Boeing 737 became his dream airplane for the next 26 years flying out of San Francisco International Airport. He is one of the few pilots that decided to spend almost his entire career on one airplane as First Officer and retiring as Captain instead of flying the larger jets. The cockpit of one of the Boeing 737's he flew was donated to the Hiller Aviation Museum at San Carlos Airport and is on display. He is a docent at the Boeing 737 part time. After retirement he became involved with the Experimental Aircraft Association building an airplane and with the Young Eagles program flying young people for the "The thrill of flight". He still enjoys flying as much now as in the beginning.
