    Capt. Coshland started flying in 1960. He received his Private License in 1962 followed by Commercial, Instrument, Multi-engine, and Flight Instructors' Ratings. He taught flying for Amityville Flying Service in Amityville, NY and was hired by Pan American World Airways as a Navigator in 1966. The next 19 years were spent flying all over the world as a Navigator/Relief Pilot and Flight Engineer on B707, B747, and L1011 aircraft. In 1986, Capt. Coshland transferred to United Airlines when Pan Am sold its Pacific routes to United.
    Capt. Coshland served UAL as Flight Engineer on L1011, First Officer on B737, and Captain on B737, B757, B767, and B777 aircraft. He retired in February 2002.
    After retirement, Capt. Coshland remained active in aviation as an Officer of Chapter 186 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and as a Docent for the National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. He continued as an active General Aviation Pilot for many years. Also, he built an experimental aircraft.
