    After joining the U.S. Army in 1939 he became a Staff Sergeant Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He flew C-47 troop carrier service in the South Pacific flying men and supplies into and out of combat zones. During this time he was promoted to 1st LT and was honorably separated in 1945. Immediately he was hired by Capital Airlines. He began flying DC-3 civilian transportation and retired as a Capt. On the Boeing 747 Jumbo-Jet on the Lost Angeles to Hawaii route for United Airlines in 1981. The folks he flew with knew him as Capt. “Blue Skies” Harry Langosh.
