    I enlisted in the USAF on 5 Jul 1955, went to Officer Candidate School in 1959 and completed pilot training in Oct 1960. I flew T-34, T-37 and T-33’s in training. Flew aerial refueler KC-97’s until I left active duty in Dec 1964 to fly for United. I stayed in the USAF Reserves until 6 Jul 1986 and retired after 31 years and a day. I flew C-119’s and C-130’s in the Reserves.
    I began my UAL career as a DC-6 Flight Engineer. Then B-727 Second Officer. Then First Officer on it, then the B-747. Became a B-737 Captain in 1984, then B-727 and retired from the DC-10.
