Started flying in V5 naval aviation cadet program July 1942. Commissioned 2ndLt US Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) March 1943. Served a tour during World War II (WWII) in South Pacific as R4D pilot. Released from active duty December 1945 with rank of Capt USMCR.
Started with United Airlines Feb 1946 as DC-3 co-pilot. During airline career attained 12 type ratings. Retired July 1981 as B747 Captain.
Since airline retirement has continued flying as Certified Flight Instructor and private pilot. Has 32,000 hours of flying time.
