My family is proud to honor Capt. Irwin A. Stavin of the U.S. Air Corp 792nd, 468th, 58th Bombardment Group, for his Service. Capt. Stavin was the pilot of the B-29 in 1945 which carried our Uncle, William H. Pearce. Based on Tinian Island, Capt. Stavin and his crew were an important part of history with the bombing missions over Japan just prior to the flight of the Enola Gay. As a result of an engine failure and circumstances beyond their control, however, it was necessary to ditch the plane that day, July 13, 1945, resulting in the loss of William H. Pearce, and William A. Teague. Our family though is very proud for the opportunity to meet Capt. Stavin for the first time in June of 2013, and would like to recognize the bravery and skill of Capt. Irwin Stavin on the Wall of Honor.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
