    Captain Carter spent 36 years with United Airlines starting in 1956. In 1976 he flew President Jimmy Carter for one year on campaign charters nicknamed the B-727 Peanut One. In 1991 he flew UAL 727 #7001 to the Beijing museum. At that time he had over 18,000 hours in the 727 starting in 1963. he flew the 727 for 28 years. He retired in 1992 at the age of 60, and is still flying private aircraft with a flight instructor's rating at the age of 72. He loved every minute of it!

    He is a member of the Retired United Airlines Pilots Association (RUPA).
