Captain James Reibman, NORTHWEST AIRLINES, retired after 29 years, was one of the most accomplished Airline Pilots of his era. He is Type-Rated and flew Captain on the Fokker F-27, Douglas DC-9, McDonald Douglas MD-80, Boeing B-727, Boeing B-757, McDonald Douglas DC-10, and the Boeing B-747. He also flew First Officer on the DC-3. Captain Reibman is also noted as being one of the few dual-qualified "Jumbo Jet" Pilots flying both the DC-10 and the B-747 concurrently. He also holds a commercial license for Helicopters and single-engine sea planes.

During OPERATION DESERT STORM Captain Reibman flew 747's for the U.S. Air Force under the Civil Reserve Air Fleet program as a volunteer. He was awarded the DESERT SHIELD AND DESERT STORM MEDAL for his service.

It all started February 1, 1958, when Jim first soloed flying a Cessna 140. While stationed at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, Jim flew the T-34 Mentor in the Vance AFB Aero Club. The seed was planted.

After interviewing with several airlines in the early "sixties", Jim realized his dream was at hand and he became a Flight Instructor in the Seattle area building the flight time required by the airlines. On May 15, 1967, WEST COAST AIRLINES, a regional carrier out of Seattle, hired Jim as a DC-3 First Officer. From that moment on began a roller coaster ride of mergers and acquisitions as WEST COAST AIRLINES became AIR WEST, then HUGHES AIRWEST, then REPUBLIC AIRLINES, and finally NORTHWEST AIRLINES.

When asked about his stellar career upon retiring, Jim said ....... "I totally exceeded my expectations!"
