Capt. Halstead spent 34 years with United Airlines. His various aircraft flown were: DC-6, B737, B727, B757, B767, B747 and DC8. Prior to joining United, Capt. Halstead was a pilot in the US Marine Corps. For his service in Viet Nam, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Six Air Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He retired from the Marines as a Major in 1980. Capt. Halstead amassed 18000 hours of flight time!
