Born in Evansville, IN on May 15, 1933. Graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1951 and Evansville College in 1955.

Entered the Air Force in May 1955. Married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Cecil in October 1955. Graduated from Air Force pilot training in May 1956. Served as an Air Force Instructor Pilot until leaving in 1967. During that time we had 3 children.

Was hired by United Air Lines in October 1967. Started as a Second Officer on DC-6. Flew on Boeing 737, 727, DC-8, and DC-10 as Second Officer, First Officer, and retired as a Captain.
