Capt. John Jeremy Sax was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind his wife Amber, his two daughters Eleanor and Emma, his mother Deborah, his father Stephen, and his sister Lauren, along with a vast group of people who were blessed to call him "friend".

John dreamed of becoming a military pilot since childhood. This dream was achieved through his hard work and sheer determination. He attended college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned his Bachelors in Aeronautical Science in addition to Private and Commercial Pilot's licenses and Multi-Engine rating. John then became a certified flight instruction and left for Officer Candidate School in the fall of 2016. Upon completion of The Basic School in Quantico, VA, Capt. Sax went onto report to Pensacola, FL in 2017 for flight school. He attended Aviation Preflight Indoctrination class 17-46 where he earned the right to don a military flight suit. He then checked into the VT6 "Shooters", where he flew the T-6B Texan II. A natural pilot, Capt. Sax showed a high level of aptitude and was subsequently selected for Advanced Jet Training.

In 2018, Capt. Sax moved to Kingsville, TX to start the Jet pipeline with the VT-21 "Redhawks", where he learned to fly the T-45C Goshawk. He then accepted a transfer to the V-22 Osprey pipeline, which brought him back to Pensacola to complete intermediate helicopter training in the TH-57 B and C as an HT-8 "Eightballer". Once he completed helicopter training, he reported to Corpus Christi as a VT-35 "Stingray" to fly the T-44C Pegasus to prepare for the dual engine characteristics of the MV-22. At the conclusion of multi-engine training, Capt. Sax was designated a Naval Aviator and received his wings of gold in October of 2020.

He reported to MCAS New River to begin training on his fleet aircraft, the MV-22 Osprey. Capt. Sax earned his "Tilt-Rotor Second Pilot" designation and left to check into Marine Air Group 39 at Camp Pendleton, CA where he awaited assignment to his first fleet squadron. While waiting for his permanent squadron, Capt. Sax temporarily was assigned to the VMM-764 "Moonlighters" where he flew the Osprey, assisted with daily squadron tasks, and stayed proficient as a Co-Pilot. On February 8, 2022, Capt. Sax checked into the VMM-364, known as the World Famous "Purple Foxes". Capt. Sax was extremely honored to become a Purple Fox, a squadron with such an incredible history and reputation.

On June 8, 2022, while conducting routine flight training, Marine Medium Tiltroto Squadron 364, Marine Aircraft Group 39, and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Capt. John Jeremy Sax was killed in a crash involving an MV-22B Oprey. Along with Capt. John Jeremy Sax, four other brave Marines also lost their lives that day - Capt. Nicholas Losapio, Cpl. Nathan E. Carlson, Cpl. Seth Rasmuson and Lance Cpl. Evan Strickland.
