Small Boy Here was the name on the outside of his_P-51 Mustang, but inside was an American pilot doing his duty and living a dream to fly. In the skies over Germany, Captain John Kirk of the 8th Air Force 78th Fighter Group, flew dangerous missions from Duxford, England destroying 10 German aircraft. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 15 clusters in 1945. His boyhood hero, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, inspired him to earn the rank of Captain in the Army Air Corps. In recent years, he has enjoyed the sport of radio-control model airplane flying.
