Captain Joseph F. Mahoney served in the Army Air Corps toward the end of World War II, although too late to be sent overseas. After the war he worked as a flight instructor until he was hired by Capital Airlines. He flew with Capital Airlines and then United Airlines until his retirement. He flew a wide variety of aircraft, ranging from the Viscount and the Constellation to the DC -10.
Captain Mahoney has devoted his entire career to air travel and this honor is being requested by his four children on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
