I’ve been an active pilot since 1957. I flew light aircraft and became a flight instructor in Los Angeles, California in 1959 – 1963. In 1962, I flew “Logair” C-46s with Zantop Air Transport and was lucky enough to acquire a job with Delta Airlines on April 1, 1963.
In my first 6 months at Delta, I was a Second Officer on DC-6s and 7s. I was checked out on C-46s and CV-440s, DC-9s and CV-880s as First Officer.
I made Captain on the CV-440 in 1968 and subsequently flew as Captain and Check Airman on the DC-9, B-727, B757, B767 ER, MD-11 until 1996.
