    In active flying in a career spanning 43 years Captain Boice accumulated a total flight time of just under 25,000 hours. He was a Navy pilot during World War II. He ran his own flight operation along with his wife for 10 years, flew 30 years for Eastern Airlines, was a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight examiner for commercial and private licenses and flew many, many types of aircraft from a Piper Cub to the Lockheed Tri-star. He held an airline pilot rating, a flight engineers rating and many ground and aircraft type ratings. After retiring he was a docent at the Pima Air and Space Museum.
