    Loren Seeger was born in Bottineau, ND, in March 1911. He grew up in Watertown, SD, and attended Carleton College before being selected for the Coast Guard Academy. He graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in 1932 and served ship duty in Galveston until 1935. He attended Flight School in Pensacola and graduated as Coast Guard Aviator #46 on 22 July 1936. In 1939 he married Margaret Bishop of Lewistown, IL. As a Coast Guard aviator, he served at Cape May, NJ, Chanute Field, IL, Floyd Bennett Field, NY, San Diego, CA, , Miami, FL, Newfoundland (WWII), Canada, Elizabeth City, NC, San Diego, CA, and USCGHQ in Washington DC. Captain Seeger logged over 4400 hours in the NY2, NY-1, NS-1, 02U, T4M-1, PD1, F4B2, RD, JF-2, FLB, R3Q-1, 00-1, N4Y-1, BC-1, A-17, B-18, PH-2, JRF-2, J4F-1, PBM, PBY, SNB, JRB, JRF-5, R5C, UF-1G, and R4D. His commands included the Patrol Bombing Squadron 6 (WWII) 1945-1946 and the Air Station San Diego 1955-1959.
