Learned to fly in 1938. Attended New York Military Academy and graduated in 1947. Served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict September 1950 through September 1953. Joined United Airlines in April 1955 and flew various reciprocating and jet engine powered aircraft. DC-8 pilot flight instructor for United Airlines for a number of years. Upon returning to line flying, flew as Captain on DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, DC-10, Viscount, B727, B720 and B747. Final years at United Airlines were spent as Captain on B747 aircraft flying international routes. Retired November 1989.
