Born June 5, 1943 in Danville, VA. Educated in public schools. Entered University of Virginia in 1960.
Commissioned 2ndLt US Marine Corps Reserve and designated Naval Aviator after completing Pensacola Naval Air Station school in 1963. Served in fleet until 1966.
Joined Pan American World Airways in 1966. Service as pilot in Pan Am's worldwide system until 1986 when transferred to United Airlines in the Pacific transaction. Service with United in domestic and international service in San Francisco and Washington. Retired in June 2003 as Boeing 777 Captain with 37 years of airline service.
