Started flying at age 21, J-3 Cub. United Airlines hired me into their Low-Time Program in 1966 with 4 hours of flight time. I also had a Civil Engineering Degree from Manhattan College (1965) and was in the USMCR at that time.
Spent 37 years with United as a DC-6 and B-720 Engineer; B-737, B-727, DC-8 and DC-10 Co-pilot; B-737, B-727, B-757, B-767 and B-777 Captain. I retired as a B-777 Captain in 2003, 4 months shy of age 60 because of United Airlines was in bankruptcy.
