    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Onofre Gutierrez

My husband migrated to the U.S.A. in 1978 from Managua, Nicaragua. His dream of becoming a pilot goes back to his childhood. Against everyone’s advice of becoming a pilot, he became a private pilot in 1983 in Manassas, Virginia.
His career was on hold for about 6 years for family reasons. In 1989 he moved to Long Beach, California to obtain the required FAA Pilots rating. In 1991 he was hired at Catalina Flying Boats as a Loader, and then in 1993 he became a line pilot for the same company. In 1995 he became a SIC on the DC-3; then in 1996 a captain.
Currently at Catalina Flying Boats he is the Director of Operations, company trainer, and general manager and Line Captain.
My husband, Onofre is very lucky that today he is still flying the airplane that revolutionized aviation, the immortal DC-3.
