Served as a naval flight officer in VF-114, VF-96(VF142), and VF-154 with three combat tours to the Tonkin Gulf, one of which was with CTF77 (Comcardiv Five). Commanded NROTC unit, Florida A & M Univ. and Naval Air Facility at Sugi, Japan. Chaired the Dept. of Defense Explosive Safety Board. A graduate of Aviation Safety Officers school at USC and the Naval Postgraduate School with Electrical Engineering (Ordnance Systems Engineering) Major. Deployed in USS Bonnie Dick, Ranger, Kittyhawk and constellation. Was Gun Boss in USS Kitty Hawk
