    Honored by:

I was born on April 23, 1943, and joined the US Navy in April 1964. After receiving my wings I went to Norfolk, Virginia and joined my first squadron, HC-4. I flew the H-34 and H-46 there.

I then went to Vietnam and flew Huey H-1Bs in HA(L)-3. I was there from July 1967 to July 1968. I received 23 Air Medals and the Purple Heart.

My next stop was the Naval Air Station, Lemoore, and I finished out my active duty tour there.

I left the US Navy in April 1969 and joined United Airlines on May 8, 1969.
I was furloughed twice, upgraded to co-pilot 14 years after my initial hire date, and upgraded to Captain 20 years after I was hired. I retired December 31, 2002.

I also spent 15 years in the Naval Reserve, flying the S-2D, P-2V, and P-3. I retired as a Lieutenant Commander.

    During my years of flying I checked out in the following aircraft: T-34, T-28, H-1, H-34, H-46, C-47 (DC-3), SNB, S-2, P-2, P-3, and Boeing aircraft 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, and 777.
