    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

I learned to fly on my own at Wilson Airport, New Kingstown, PA. Next I trained with the Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP).
Then in 1942 I enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, graduating in the class of 43-C. Flight instructed for 17 months in the Southeast Training command. Next to the B-29 and went to combat to the 73rd Wing of the 20th AF on Saipan. Miller’s crew participated in the last large 809-plane mission striking 7 different areas on August 14, 1945, 8 days and 5 days respectively after Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
This enormous mission brought the Imperial Council together for the first time since Pearl Harbor and surrender at noon of the 15th when the Emperor talked to his people the first time. The mission was lost in history because of the news of the atom bombs ahead of it and the news of the War ending with it!
