    Capt. Paul Myers was born in Fresno, CA, Oct 1939. Those that knew him as a boy, new remember that all he dreamed of doing was to "fly airplanes". He soloed at age 16, and received his private pilot's license on his 17th birthday. Capt. Myers professional flying career began during college as a part-time charter pilot. This was followed by a period of corporate flying in light and heavy piston aircraft. Paul was hired by united Airlines in 1963. During his initial training he acquired the nickname of "Whitey" from his classmates which stuck thru his 36 years at UAL. His earlier included flight engineer on the DC-6, DC-7, DC-8 and B720 and DC-10. Paul spent his last 22years at UAL in the "left seat" on the B-727, 757, 767, 747 and retired in Oct 1999 on the B-747-400, after 11 years of international flying. Capt. Myers was active on the Air Line Pilots Association Safety Committee, where he was the ALPA representative for UAL's expansion to Europe, setting up the B-767 overwater operation (ETOPS). His honors include recognition of the contribution to the ETOPS flying by all airlines, two awards of merit, and the Desert Shield Medal. Paul and his wife Cheryl have remained active in general aviation with their 1958 Piper Apache-180. In retirement he "Captains" their motor yacht, which Cheryl and he lives on half of the year in the Pacific Northwest. A boyhood dream comes true. Thank you Lord.
