At the time of this donation, Capt. Nickels had completed six years as a KC-135A/Q and T-38A pilot in the U. S. Air Force, and 17 years with Northwest Airlines, where he is currently a B-757 Captain. Hi over 14,000 hours of flight time include over 40 aircraft types and he is the owner of a Pitts S-2B, N5351J. Capt. Nickels also donates his time to the Yankee Air Museum in Michigan, where he regularly flies the museums B-25 and B-17 aircraft.
