    Honored by:

    Richard F. Ward, Captain (USN, Ret), was awarded a full Naval ROTC scholarship and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1959. He was awarded his US Navy wings in 1961 and flew the P2V-7 in Patrol Squadron VP-18 in Jacksonville NAS, Florida, and the North Atlantic. CAPT Ward joined United Airlines in 1966 and flew the DC-6, DC-8, Boeing 727, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, and the DC-10 before retiring at age 60 in 1997.
