    Began private flying Nov. 11, 1962 and soloed Feb 26, 1963 Enlisted in U. S, Army and upon completion of Fixed Wing flight school served in the European Theatre. The conflict in S.E. Asia required helicopter pilots and CWO Fleck served with distinction as an aircraft commander in the 1st Calvary Division. An assignment near home flying the general staff at Fort Sheridan, IL allowed a return to fixed wing flying before being honorably discharged Jan. 10, 1969.
    Employment was gained with the hometown airline, united Airlines, on Jun. 26, 1969. Capt. Fleck was recognized by ALPA and UAL for safety and took normal retirement June 1, 2001.
