    Captain Robert R, Sherbondy lost his life after flying 100 missions in Europe, During this time he was shot down by the NAZI Air Force. His plane was shot down over the Messina Straits. He was rescued by the British RAF.
    He was returned to the USA (Florida) after completing the 100 Fighter Pilot missions.
    He was killed in a strafing practice over the west coast of Florida. His body was not recovered from the gulf of Mexico. Detailed information was very scarce during WWII.
