    Born December 14, 1930, New Lisbon, WI. Parents Hans and Martha Kallestad. Graduated from Beloit Memorial high School, Class of 1948, Beloit, WI.
    Entered U. of Wi., Madison, WI fall of 1948. Graduated Aug. 1952 BBA degree. Entered U.S. Navy, Sept. 1952 reporting to Pensacola, FL for Naval flight training.
    Married Susan J. Story June 21 1953. Three children; Mikel, Karen and Carla.
    Received Naval Aviator Wings Dec. 23 1953 at NAS Corpus Christie, TX.
    Reported to VW-2 Airborne Early Warning Squadron, Jan 1954 at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
    Flew PB-1W, R7-V and WV aircraft. Discharged from active duty Dec. 1955. Flew with naval Reserve at NAS Oak and NAS Alameda for 11 years.
    Hired on 1/6/56 as pilot/flight engineer with UAL. After initial training assigned to line flying 4/56 out of San Francisco Airport. Promoted to UAL F/O on 12/64. Completed air Transport Rating 2/69.
    Promoted to Capt. 8/75. Promoted to Flight Manager at SFoFo 11/77. Promoted to DC-10 Capt. 10/81.
    Retired from UAL on 1/1/91. 35 year’s service approx. 20,000+ hours flight time UAL. Aircraft flown: CV-340, DC-6, DC-7, 737, 727,, DC-8, DC-10 – 3-. 747.
    Navy aircraft flown: SNJ, PBM-5, PB-1W(B-17), R7-V, WV-2, S2F, S2D. Total flight time 2202.7 hrs.
    Completed Lear Jet type rating at Van Nuys Airport on 7/21/77.
