His 40+ year career began with instructing in Piper Cubs at Harlem Airport in Chicago. He then went on to fly for Slick Airways in the C-46 and DC-4, with a move to North Central Airlines in 1958. There he flew and was type-rated in the DC-3, Convair 240, 340, A440 (580), DC-9, and 727.
North Central the merged with Northwest Airlines where he continued to fly the 727 and retired on the Airbus 320.
