    Born 1946 of Ukrainian parents who had emigrated to Australia after World War II. Raised and educated in Sydney, Australia. First job working in a bank but felt the call of the air.

    Learned to fly in Sydney and amongst early jobs was the feat of ferrying single-engine planes across the Pacific from the USA to Australia.

    Joined Air Niugini at its inception in late 1973. Became check and training pilot for F-27s and fleet captain for F-28s before moving onto the Boeing 707-338 as a commander.

    Left Air Niugini in 1985 and flew biz jets in Australia, Europe, and the Middle East before joining Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA) (later absorbed by Qantas) as a Boeing 737 captain with training duties. Transferred to Airbus A330 a few years ago and now happily flying Qantas regional Australian/Asian routes.

    Presently has about 26,500 flying hours. Married with four daughters.
