Born July 5, 1923, Danville, PA. Enlisted Army Air Corps, 1942. Trained as gunner, joined glider pilot program, and finally, Air Cadet training. 68 combat missions as Fighter Pilot, 8th Air Force, flying P-47’s and P-51’s. Ended tour as a 9 victory Ace (2) ME-109’s (7) FW-190’s. On 9/29/1944, became the 8th AF’s 4th Ace in a day, as he shot down (5) Fw-190’s on mission to Kessel Germany.
